Interview with Mattias Larrieu

People are the most important when building an organization.

Meet Mattias Larrieu, Head of People and Culture.

One of the most important roles while building an organization in a rapidly growing company is the people in charge of recruiting. Often not visible externally, but an important part to hire the right competence and acquire the right people who contribute to the company's culture. Mattias has long experience through his previous consulting company, helping companies building their organizations.

Mattias is a humanist with a bachelor's degree in languages and a master's degree in financial economics, which has made it easier to recruit financial positions. Mattias journey within Nilsson Energy started in April 2021, when he through his own company was hired by the three founders to start the journey and begin the recruiting process. From January 2022 Mattias is employed full time by Nilsson Energy.

Why did you choose Nilsson Energy?

It is actually a bit funny but a few months prior to getting in contact with Nilsson Energy I explored the feasibility of mounting solar panels on my house. In the process I asked a few questions, among others regarding the possibility to store the energy, and got the answer that it wasn't possible in any larger extent. Shortly after I got in touch with Nilsson Energy and Hans-Olof Nilsson who has done exactly this, and I got fascinated by both the company's operation and the people behind it.

I started at Nilsson Energy as a consultant but pretty quickly I put all of my time into the company, to eventually enter as an employee. After running my own business for many years I didn't have the sights on becoming employed but the combination of good people and an exiting operation made it so I didn't hesitate.

What's most fun about your job?

It's an industry of the future, rapidly growing which both challenges and creates possibilities. It's very exiting and fun to be part of affecting the future of the company by building an organization with people who have both the right competence and personality to take the next step in our development.

The people are among the most important when building an organization from the ground up and therefore my work feels important and meaningful. I also enjoy the fact that it's a varied job, I am like "the spider in the web" and have contact with everyone.

Tip for people wanting to work at Nilsson Energy?

It's important that you understand and enjoy being a big cog in a small machine. With this said, even if you have your roll and responsibility, you will be part of developing the work within many other areas as well.

We have an open climate where everyone are important and where we care about each other. We do also feel a great commitment to create a sustainable and robust society with the help from fossil free energy solutions.
