Meet Fabian, Energy Systems Engineer at Nilsson Energy
Our moved in boy from Skåne, Fabian, started working at Nilsson Energy in August 2021 and is seen as senior at the company since he started working with us directly after he completed his studies at Linköping University. It was during his master thesis with the focus on hydrogen he came in contact with Harald Bouma and Nilsson Energy through the hydrogen refueling station in Mariestad.
Since Fabian joined Nilsson Energy in an early state of the growth his tasks has varied a lot. He works with technical purchasing, project planning, product development, CAD and energy calculations, but he has also been involved in arranging spontaneous after works.
Why did you choose Nilsson Energy?
It was my tutor Pontus Cerin at Linköping University that got me in to hydrogen which created a snowballing effect which led me into future utopias which can become possible with sustainable energy storage.I believe that many of the future jobs will be within the energy industry, for example within smart electrical grids and energy storage solutions, this feels exciting and the right thing for me.
Through my contact with Nilsson Energy I got a greater understanding of how storage of energy in hydrogen works and that it is possible to integrate to society. Nilsson Energy had already created systems that worked for real, not only in theory, this made me wanting to be part of the company.
An other perk is that Gothenburg attracted me with the coast where i can kite surf, perfect size city and that the district of Majorna, where I live, has a nice atmosphere which suites me. It also doesn't hurt that I can take the boat to the office every morning.
What's most fun about your job?
Fabian laughs and says: I think it's fun that there are not two days that are the same. It's extremely varying, even if the company has grown in the number of employees we are still within the journey of development to get everything in place.
It's been fun to be part of that when we have gone from a project group to a full-fledged company, and it will be as exciting to be part of the next step when everything will be scaled up. It's been exciting to join straight from the university and make a difference from the start. Since I am very pragmatic I like that Nilsson Energy's motto is that we do not only talk, we deliver.
Tip for people wanting to work at Nilsson Energy?
Since the company is under construction you will need to be a doer but at the same time have a high safety mindset. At our company you fit in if you are curious, driven and take responsibility for your own work. It doesn't hurt if you have humor, we can never get to much of that in Gothenburg.
